The major reason for this new version of the SeNTry product is INCREASED PERFORMANCE.  We have redesigned the communications between the Sending and Gathering services to allow for much increased throughput of events and less overhead.  This improvement is most noticable using SQL SERVER as the database engine, and this is the preferred route for medium and large installations.  We continue to support 16bit Access (version 2.0) which is installed with the default evaluation version.  Access 7.0 still has memory problems when used with ODBC.

  9. The main things that you will find new in this release are:

  11.     New "Smart" Monitor.
  12.     Reduced leakage with NT4 Service Pack 2.
  13.     Dynamically updated filters and alerts are no longer available due to leakage.

  22. We have provided an Installation Guide in Microsoft Write (install.wri) and Microsoft Word (install.doc) format.  The Write version is linked to an Icon in the sentry program group.

  24. This Guide contains instructions for how to install and configure SeNTry for correct running, and how to troubleshoot and correct installation problems.
